Service provider Plusnet has temporarily slashed the cost of its Unlimited Fibre and Unlimited Fibre Extra packages, in a bid to entice customers away from competitors.
Large discounts on both the 38 Mbps (Megabytes per second) and 76 Mbps services will be available until February 17th 2015, just as consumers look to tighten their belts after all that Christmas shopping and January sales sprees.
The Unlimited Fibre deal offers connection speeds of up to 38 Mbps download and 19.5 Mbps upload and is available on an 18 month contract to new subscribers.
The new deal cuts the cost of the package to just £3.75 per month for the first six months, then £14.99 per month for the remainder of the contract term.
This means that the customer saves £11.24 per month for six months. In addition, the package offers an unlimited data allowance (no download limits), a free router and free activation.
Landline UK evening and weekend calls are included as standard in the deal, with an option to upgrade to Anytime calls for £5 extra per month.
Unlimited Fibre Extra also offers free activation, a free wireless router and no limits to downloads or uploads.
Again, Plusnet’s top-tier package is on an 18 month contract, but this time customers pay £8.75 per month for the first six months, then £19.99 per month for the other 12 months.
The big difference here is speed – Extra offers download speeds of up to 76 Mbps, though uploads remain the same at 19.5 Mbps. Once again, the saving to the customer works out at £11.24 per month for the first six months.
Like the basic Unlimited, Extra includes evening and weekend calls to UK landlines with the option to upgrade.
As with other broadband deals, the cost of the services do not include line rental. Currently, this is priced at £15.95 per month, or there is a Plusnet linesaver option available. This means that the customer pays for a whole year of line rental in one lump sum, at a cost of £155.88.
It’s a bigger cost to bear in one go, however the total is a fair bit less than the £191.40 payable if you do it in monthly instalments. The amount saved is £35.52 across the whole year, or just over two months in line rental.
